Feature

A specific capability or function of a product that delivers value to users. Features sit between epics and user stories in most agile planning hierarchies. A feature describes what the product can do from a user's perspective — 'real-time notifications,' 'export to CSV,' 'two-factor authentication' — without specifying implementation details. Features are typically estimated at a higher level than user stories, often using T-shirt sizing or rough story point ranges, for roadmap planning. They are then broken into user stories during backlog refinement for sprint-level planning. Features help product teams communicate with stakeholders in business terms rather than technical tasks.
