T-Shirt Sizing

A relative estimation technique that uses T-shirt sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL) to categorize work items by size and complexity. T-shirt sizing is especially useful for high-level roadmap estimation when stories are too vague for numeric story points. It is quick, accessible, and avoids the anchoring effect of numbers — team members intuitively understand relative size categories. T-shirt sizing can be used in planning poker sessions alongside or instead of Fibonacci card values for early-stage backlog items or epics. Once stories are refined further, they are typically converted to numeric story point estimates before sprint planning.
